Throughout the semester I was required to attend two activities outside of class that were related to the class and would help me learn more things about technology. The first outside activity that I attended was located on campus. The presentation was called Education for Transformation. It was a presentation about popular education in Nicaragua. The presentation talked about an organization called Cantera. Through this organization people go to Nicaragua and into communities to help solve problems that are occurring in these communities. It also helps build onto the communities and make the people who live there have a better life. You can view my reflection from this activity here.
For my second activity I read an article called "Technology and Interactive Media as Tools in Early Childhood Programs Serving Children from Birth through Age 8". As a future Early Childhood Educator this article was very important for me. The article talked about the different uses for technology and interactive media in the classroom. It also gave ways that early childhood teachers can use technology in a positive way that will encourage development in young children. Also it touched on the challenges that teachers need to keep in mind when using technology in the classroom. You can view my reflection from this activity here.
